Dr. Lopa Gupta is a recognized expert in facial plastic surgery with an emphasis on eyelid microsurgery. Dr. Gupta was inspired to get into medicine after visiting her uncle in India when she was just five years old. He practiced medicine out of his home and had lines of people waiting to see him. She decided then that this is what she wanted to do and has pursued her passion to help people with intensive focus ever since.
Dr. Gupta was so certain that she wanted to pursue medicine that when accepted by the prestigious 6 year honor program at Northwestern University, she accepted immediately. It was here that she met her husband Dr. Mantu Gupta, a world-renowned kidney stone surgeon.
After Northwestern, Dr. Gupta went on to do research on retinal diseases and her residency in Ophthalmology at Stanford University. This background in Ophthalmology helped set her up for success when she went on to a fellowship with Dr. Orkan G. Stasior in Albany, New York. It was here she mastered the art of eyelid surgery.
Following Dr. Gupta’s intensive fellowship she opened a private practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. She enjoys architecture and interior decorating, and although she was happy with the space and was building a strong client list, she wanted to build and decorate her own office. In 2008, she found the perfect space on Park Ave. After three years of finding the perfect decor to complement her pristine, state of the art medical equipment, she opened the location and remains there today.
Dr. Gupta has a commitment to her clients and performs all the procedures, the injections, and the laser treatments herself so she can ensure it is done properly and all the equipment is clean and double sanitized. Whether it is a liquid facelift or laser blepharoplasty, Dr. Gupta takes a personalized, artistic approach with every patient, churning out a masterpiece each time. The majority of Dr. Gupta’s clients come from referral because of this personal approach and in part due to her commitment to her clients’ anonymity above and beyond HIPAA standards.
Dr. Gupta does a variety of facial aesthetic procedures at a very high level but specializes in eyelid surgery. She has performed thousands of eyelid surgeries and understands and always communicates the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. Dr. Gupta prefers and is working to revolutionize the use of lasers to remove fat and skin from the upper and lower eyelids because it results in a natural look without scarring or changing the shape of the eyes.
